The Maxi Dress
The Maxi Dress is the hero of Foundation 5.
The piece that stops the room before a word is spoken.
Cut from 100% obsidian black linen, the silhouette is commanding from the first glance, wide, dramatic and entirely in control.
But look closer.
This is a garment with architecture.
A precise 2cm border of 100% gold linen traces the neckline, frames the empire seam at the front and back, then makes a decision.
It turns.
It travels vertically down the centre back from empire to hem, carrying the YKK invisible zip quietly within it.
Gold and black.
The same fabric family. Opposite ends of the spectrum.
One grounding the other.
Both necessary.
The balloon sleeves are lined with domette for structure and volume and finished with elastic at the cuff, dropping organically from the empire opening towards the sleeve.
They were designed to open.
To move.
To reveal.
Below the empire, the Foundation Line takes over.
The side seams follow the body's silhouette, close and considered, from just above the empire through the waist and finishing just above the hip.
Within this line, the discreet 1cm welt pockets are incorporated into the architecture, sitting flush at either side and finishing in line with the stitch.
The pockets are there when needed.
Invisible when they're not.
And then the line releases.
Below the hip, the wide lower body opens away from the body, creating a peek-a-boo side slit that reveals itself with movement.
At the centre front, a further slit adds another moment of drama.
The dress does not stay still.
It was never meant to.
The bodice is fully lined.
Every lower-body seam is bias bound.
The hem is hand stitched.
Because the inside deserves the same consideration as the outside.
The Cummerbund Skirt, worn over the dress in the campaign, is sold separately.
