The Skirt

The Skirt is having fun.

And she has earned it.

Cut from 100% silk taffeta in deep wine, approximately four metres of fabric are gathered into a balloon silhouette with a life entirely its own.

This is not volume for volume's sake.

It is volume with intention, structured, considered and gloriously alive with every step.

The 10cm waistband is fused with both interlining and buckram, creating a defined, uncompromising waist before the volume begins.

At the bottom edge of the waistband, a precise 2cm band of black silk taffeta runs continuously around the skirt. At the centre back, the band turns and travels vertically from the top edge of the waistband through to the hem, carrying the YKK invisible zip quietly within it.

The contrast creates a deliberate interruption against the deep wine silk, framing the waist before drawing the eye down the centre back.

Below it, the silk taffeta gathers into its full balloon shape.

The hem is gathered onto the lining and finished with horsehair, giving the skirt the body it needs to hold its sculptural form.

She does not collapse.

She holds her shape because she was built to.

The lining is 100% black cotton, cut to create its own peek-a-boo moment when the skirt moves, a flash of black beneath the deep wine, revealed only as the body moves.

In-seam side pockets sit flush within the silhouette, invisible until reached for.

There is something deliberately joyful about this skirt.

She takes up space.

She changes the energy of a room.

And she doesn't apologise for either.
